We are Hermus Horses
A silent wish that became reality
Horse breeding used to run in the family on both sides and our daughters Ghiselain and Frederique also grew up with horses. Because we did not want to get rid of our very first mare, we took another broodmare. And then another…and then another. And so it happened. A silent wish for his own breeding farm had become reality.
We have had an arable farm in the Flevopolder for many years. The peace and space that this entails means that our horses and foals have extremely good well-being here. And with our passion for horses and the sport, every horse receives sufficient attention and training. Both we and our daughters have all completed certified training. What ensures that the horses are well trained in preparation for dressage.
We work not only regionally but also internationally. Our network is very extensive and we believe that an agreement is an agreement. Trust is a great asset to us and we attach great importance to it. “It is not without reason that they come on foot and go on horseback.”
We stand for
Powerful bloodlines
We like to get the best out of a horse and the horse should always feel comfortable and calm. After all, horses are high-quality, noble animals with a sensitive feeling.
That is why we think it is important to choose high-quality, top-level bloodlines with a good character. In our opinion, this combination brings out the best in the horse.
Performance driven
Our goal is to make our customers happy with a nice horse that suits them. That is why we pay a lot of attention to our breeding program, the purchasing and rearing of our horses.
We want them to grow into healthy sport horses so that they can have a great career. A hobby that has been professionalized. Passion and drive predominate.
Fréderique Hermus
Corné's youngest daughter and successor within the company. With a great passion for dressage, but especially for breeding, she is the driving force to continue breeding within Hermus Horses and take it to a higher level.
She was born in Lelystad, on the company where Hermus Horses is now located. She currently lives in Dronten with her husband and three children. Her eldest two children, aged 5 and 7, become infected with the horse virus and also ride horses fanatically.
Her vision for Hermus Horses is crystal clear, breeding modern dressage horses that are sharp enough to always want to work for you but still remain cool-headed. In summary; a high-quality, reliable dressage horse with a golden character.
Corné Hermus
Corné was born in Breda and lived in Moerdijk until he was 10. He grows up on his parents' arable farm. In 1972, the Hermus family moved to Lelystad to continue the arable farm there. Horse breeding is already in Corné's blood, both his grandfather and father bred Belgian draft horses for farm work.
Corné took over the company in 2002, with his focus mainly on arable farming. Both his daughters started riding at a young age and they have several care ponies and horses, which eventually led to the purchase of their first mare. His eldest daughter then chooses to study at Deurne. The mare can then enjoy her retirement on the farm with the Hermus family. A Kennedy mare with interesting blood. Out of old interest and purely for the hobby, Corné breeds a foal here. This led to his interest in breeding good bloodlines with a lot of sport and high-quality dressage foals with a good character. This turns out to be the cradle of Hermus Horses.
The company now has around 25 horses, including the stallion Goliath/Owen (gladiator x obelisk), who will be designated NRPS in 2022.
